Welcome to my blog. Here I have tried to capture the adventures of our little family and the trials and tribulations of our never ending garden project(s). Take a look around and leave a comment if you wish. Thanks for stopping by. Jer.

Iris time

The irises are just starting to come out. Lots of buds this year. This is 'Orinoco Flow' just after the rain.

Heeeeeere's Isaac!

This picture made me laugh...reminds me of Jack Nicholson in The Shining.

Japanese Maples

The recent string of nice days has pushed all the maple buds open.

'Emperor 1'

'Inaba Shidare'

'Aka Kawa Hime'

'Purple Ghost'

'Goshiki Kotohime'

'Skeeter's Broom'

Weeping Larch, Year 2

It is amazing how this tree comes back from what looks like a tangled bunch of dead wood. It is pretty cool as it starts to green from the bottom up.

New Bamboo

Well, overwintering the bamboo from last fall in a buried pot did not work...so that one is going back and I found a new one. This is Fargesia Rufa 'Green Panda'. It is a clumping bamboo that is non-invasive and cold hardy. I found it at one of the local garden centres that I usually go to - Gardenland. This is the first year that they have carried it. It is by Epic Perennials as part of their Impact line. Pretty good deal at 15$.
